CUCEDP stimulates the preservation and enhancement of the traditional commercial district in the Downtown area of the Town of Clayton as well as Union County through economic development resources, education, historic preservation, beautification, promotion of community and civic pride in New Mexico!
Clayton · Union County stands as a crossroads of history and nature, spanning over 100 million years of existence, from dinosaur tracks to Native American heritage and the Spanish exploration. The arrival of the railroad in the late 19th century transformed Clayton into a bustling hub for cattle shipments and welcomed settlers like Black Jack Ketchum and Morris Herzstein. Today, this vibrant town invites visitors to explore its rich past through attractions like dinosaur tracks at Clayton Lake State Park and panoramic views from Capulin Volcano National Monument, blending a storied history with natural beauty.
Our Projects
CUCEDP works to make our downtown more vibrant through private-public partnerships, combining the resources and efforts of local government, downtown merchants, area businesses, and interested members of the community, including community leaders and volunteers.
